This Scalpay Harris Tweed suit is part of my small collection of Harris tweed clothing.

I am also working on a range of creamy, earth shaded Herdwick tweeds from Cumbria.

I have loved tweed for as long as I can remember.

I fell in love with Harris Tweed at the age of 12 when a hand me down hacking jacket came into my life.

Tweed is my comfort blanket of choice. I wear it every day in all weathers as shepherdess, mountain guide and mum. Tweed is for walking across fell tops, moors, beaches and bogs and for wherever cool winds blow, it is for wearing with flushed cheeks, a spring in your step and a smile on your face.

It’s for work, best and all the rest, town or country, tweed is to be worn and torn, sat on by your dogs, rolled up and used as a pillow on a picnic, it’s to wrap around the shoulders of children who claimed, “I won’t need a coat!”

Tweed is reliable, natural, and traditional yet fashionable, colourful and fun.

My desire to design my own clothing came from my love of the outdoors and nature. I wanted to feel comfortable and warm out on the farm and in the hills guiding.

I persuaded a local seamstress to make me a small selection of tweed suits, and slowly guests, friends and strangers began to ask, “Where can we buy them?” So here they are…

My small first range of tweed can be bought as separates, for example, jacket, waistcoat or skirt, or as a complete suit.
