Shacklabank Farm WalkDiscover the delights of our wildlife walkOn a cold snowy night in front of a log fire my daughter Scarlett and I decided to create our simple map for guests. We wanted them to share our special places and moments we enjoy whilst walking the dogs each day. Follow our guide through the fields and woods here on the farm. There is so much to see and experience ... we have dramatic views in all directions. Pass the chickens to the start of the walk -- imagine it's mid summer... Cast off shoes and cares, wade barefoot through the butter yellow hay meadows whilst flutterbies fill the skies. Pass the magic ash tree and make a wish, say hello to Little Owl, mind your head as swallows swoop through the gate to wet pastures new, pass great oaks and willow hedges, paddle deep in watercress fresh streams, ssssh see a frog peep from the deep, dragons fly by, they catch your eye. Stop to picnic by the beck stay a while spend time to dream, count the sheep hear them bleat, pass waterfalls and fairy dells stop to smell the bluebells, look sweet daisy is at your feet, Rosie lays and chews her cud, ponies plod in summer pasture, pause to admire The Howgill fells... wow.... Then hurry back in time for tea, fresh baked scones for you and me… |
