SHACKLABANK FAMILY THE O'NEILLS |
| ALISON “We are honoured to be part of this unique and ancient landscape. To many this area is “God’s Own Country” and we agree!. "There is something very special about the Howgills and the surrounding area, not only the fells and dales, but the people who have helped mould this landscape made it what it is today. "It is so true to say that I do not have the words to do justice to the beauty here. It is something so special and that you must see and experience it for yourself. "We are a small family and all share this passion for Shacklabank Farm. We all pull together, share ideas and make plans for the future.” | |
| JOHN ‘I was born in Baltinglass, The Wicklow Mountains in Eire. A farmer’s son who longed to travel, I left home at 16 and travelled the world. After spending two years discovering Africa on foot and climbing many of her mountains I returned to England where I met Alison. Alison retuned to Cumbria and I just followed. We married in December 1997 and moved to Shacklabank Farm not long after. Very shortly after that Scarlett was born. I have always loved to walk and will help guide on some of the walks in the future. You can forget the home baking though. Malt whisky is my kind of treat! | |

LESLEY Alison’s niece Lesley Dixon will make many of the magnificent and delicious cakes and puddings that you will have the pleasure of eating – all home made and “baked with love”. Lesley is a fully-qualified pastry and patisserie chef (to name just one of her qualifications) and is a big part of our family here on the hill. |
